Travis Best

Travis Best

9/1/1977 — 1/18/2016

The Good Lord took Travis home on Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, after a lifelong battle with kidney disease.

Travis was born Sept. 1, 1977, to Lonnie and Teresa Best in Portland, Ore. He was the youngest of the three children, with Phillip and Angie as his older brother and sister. As life went on, he continued to be blessed with additional siblings, Damien, Stanley, Warren, Ynona, Patty and Bobby Best.

He has two children, Madison Best and Alicia Best (aka Peanut). They were his world. He loved them as the miracles they are. Because of his disease, he was told he shouldn't be able to have children. He wasn't supposed to live 38 years, either. As usual, Travis didn't accept "he couldn't," and through perseverance proved them wrong.

Most have no idea of Travis' real-life, dialysis, surgeries and continual medical treatments. He didn't need to share that. He shared the jokes, the honest shenanigans, the fishing. Many stories will be shared of adventures with Travis; uncle, brother, brother, cousin stories.

We all will miss Travis in our way, and always a good way.

You may wish Travis a peaceful journey from noon to 6 p.m. Friday at Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home. The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston. Afterward, please feel free to join us in a celebration of life covered-dish dinner at the Salvation Army Church, 1806 21st St., Lewiston.

I had the fun of having Travis in school at Project CDA. I am always proud to see former students making good choices in their lives and in their families. Travis made those good choices while at Project. His best choice was to follow Jesus. I will be praying for you, his family, that God will bring you comfort in knowing you will meet again in Heaven and that God will bring you His peace. God bless you as you continue your journey.
