Rod was born Dec. 8, 1953, to Vern and Marlene (Dunlap) Dickinson. He was the oldest of three children. Rod attended school at Culdesac, where he graduated in 1972. After graduating from high school, Rod began working on the family farm with his dad and grandpa. After farming for more than 20 years, he decided it was time to try something different. He had a few business ventures in Lewiston, and he spent some time living in Hawaii and Nevada. In 2001, Rod returned to his farming roots and joined the crew at Boyer Land and Cattle, where he worked until the time of his death.
Rod will always be remembered for his kind spirit. He would always try to find the best in everyone. Rod was an honest, hard-working man who always tried to do the right thing.
Rod is survived by his sisters, Debbie Heinzerling of Culdesac and Laura (Jeff) Webber of Lewiston; nieces and nephew Tara Isley of Lewiston, Leslie (Jared) Zenner of Lewiston, Leann (Todd) Reid of Craigmont, Tate (Jamie) Heinzerling of Boise; and several great-nieces and -nephews, Maddie and Kaitlyn Isley, Quenton and Burke Zenner, and Clayton and Reagan Heinzerling.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Dee Heinzerling.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Culdesac Quick Response Unit.
