Oliver Lewis McClarin, a lifelong resident of Lewiston, died Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at Life Care Center in Lewiston at the age of 98.

Oliver was born Nov. 15, 1917, in Craigmont, to Robert and Gertrude McClarin. He graduated from Lewiston High School. Oliver married Helen Miles on Sept. 18, 1946. They made their lives together in Lewiston in 1937.

Oliver served four years in the U.S. Army Air Forces in World War II in Switzerland, Scotland, Ireland and Germany, primarily as a medic. After the Air Forces, he worked for most of his life at Morrell Construction, retiring in his mid-70s. He loved the outdoors and spent summers and falls camping and hunting with family and friends.

Oliver was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his son, Russell McClarin; and brothers and sisters Everett McClarin, Laura Krouss, Ella Robinson, Albert McClarin and Cecil Henry McClarin.

Oliver is survived by daughters Bona and husband Bill Williams of Lewiston, Renee McClarin of Portland, Ore., Corlene and husband Wes Curry of Lewiston, Radene and husband Jim Cleveland of Clarkston, Wendi and husband Dave Beaudoin of Spokane Valley, Wash; son Blair McClarin of Lewiston; his brother, Elmer McClarin of Clarkston; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

At Oliver's request, there will be no services.
