Norman George Phillips, 70, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at home in Lewiston. He was born Dec. 15, 1948, in Sacramento, Calif., and grew up in Roseville, Calif. He graduated from North Highlands High School in 1967. After graduation, Norman joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in San Diego, where he later resided and met the love of his life, Shirley. His military career included two tours of service in Vietnam, and he was a plankowner with the Top Gun unit in NAS Miramar.
Norman married Shirley Daniel in 1971 in San Diego. They were happily married for 47 years. He worked for FedEx for 22 years, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed spending time with loved ones, playing baseball, vacationing, including six trips to New Zealand, and good times traveling with Shirley in their motor home.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Norman C. Phillips and Betty Phillips.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Lewiston; his daughters, Jennie (Matt) Reed of San Diego and Jessica (Danny) Sullivan of Boise, and son Norman Mark Phillips of San Diego; his brother, David (Debbie) Phillips of Browns Valley, Calif.; and grandchildren Isabel and Mallory Sullivan, and Jackson Reed.
A celebration of Norman’s life will take place at noon Thursday at the Jack O’Connor Center in Lewiston.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Jack O’Connor Hunting Heritage and Education Center in Lewiston.
