Monte A. Knight, 80, passed away Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025, at TriState Health in Clarkston.
Monte was born Aug. 8, 1945, in Kamiah to Harold Knight and Francis Finney Knight. Monte was the youngest of four children.
The family moved to Lewiston in 1952. Monte attended schools in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1964.
Monte enlisted into the U.S. Navy and served until 1968. While in the Navy, he served on a ship just off the coast of Vietnam.
Once leaving the service, he worked as a well driller for Adcock Drilling. Later he worked for Barnes Drilling and Blasting until he retired in 2002.
His hobbies included being a ham operator, wood working, fishing and hunting.
Monte spent the last two years living at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Lewiston.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sharon Knight; daughter, Tracy Huddleston; grandchildren McKenzie Huddleston and Logan Huddleston; great-grandchildren Shaylin, Valor, Lucas and Octavia Carlson; sisters Maxine Hatley and Darlene (Larry) Clark; brothers-in-law Robin Lupinacci, Terry Lupinacci, Walter Marvin, Larry (Catlin) Marvin, George Wehnes, Jerry (Mary) Marvin; and sisters-in-laws Judy Lupinacci and Judith Marvin.
Monte was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Francis Knight; parent-in-laws Pete and Laura Lupinacci and Ruth and Ralph Marvin; sister Harriet (Jo) Wehnes; sister-in-law Tammy Lupinacci; brothers-in-law Joseph Lupinacci and Ronnie Marvin; and grandson Dylan Huddleston.
A graveside service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens, 3521 Seventh St., Lewiston.
Our family would like to thank all the staff at the Veterans Home for the special care they proved Monte during his time there.
