Kristy Roberts

Kristy Roberts

2/2/1958 — 11/5/2015

Kristy Ann Roberts was born to Robert J. Roberts and Latricia F. (Comnick) Roberts on Feb. 2, 1958, and succumbed to cancer Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at her home. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1976 and completed her undergraduate degrees at Lewis-Clark State College in 1978 and 1989. She obtained her master's degree in adult education/human resource development from the University of Idaho in 2002.

The majority of Kristy's career was spent at LCSC, beginning with a position as office coordinator in the athletic department. Kristy worked in various college departments, including social sciences, natural sciences and continuing education, before becoming director of distance learning. At the time of her death, she was director of e-learning services and the testing center. Kristy was also the executive secretary for the Lewiston Independent School District from February 1995 to September 1997.

Kristy married Kenneth Craig on Sept. 16, 1989. Ken and Kristy moved to McCall to manage the Hotel McCall for one year. Kristy re-joined the LCSC staff when they returned to Lewiston. The marriage later ended in divorce.

The next chapter in Kristy's life began in the summer of 1996, when she met her life partner, Jack Cridlebaugh. Jack and Kristy shared a passion for the outdoors and spent many weekends at their cabin in Waha. They loved evening snowmobile rides to Forest, and there may have been a few cold ones consumed along the way. Jack died suddenly on April 13, 2013.

Kristy had a passion for gardening, which was clearly evident wherever she lived. She loved to travel and counted her trips to New Zealand with her dad and Alaska with her dad and stepmother, Jean, among her favorites. She loved the Oregon Coast and her dogs equally. She had a particular fondness for her Afghan hounds.

Kristy was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her brother, Kim Roberts; her stepmother, Jean Roberts; and her much-loved niece and nephew, Renee and Chad Roberts. She is also survived by her best friend, Vickie Howell Carr, who redefined friendship in the care and compassion she extended Kristy throughout her illness.

Kristy was a complex and creative woman with an incredible work ethic. She was a very private person yet maintained a wide and diverse circle of friends to whom she was very loyal. She was polished and professional in the workplace, a mentor and friend. Her warmth and wicked sense of humor are just two of the many endearing things we will miss about her.

The family and Vickie would like to thank the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Family Hospice team, Dr. Midence and the St. Joe's Cancer Center team, and the caring staff from the Care Connection.

Kristy loved flowers, but if she were here she would encourage you to donate to the Lewis-Clark Animal Shelter or a charity of your choice.

At Kristy's request, cremation has taken place. The memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 920 Eighth Ave., Lewiston. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.

Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
