Karen F. Stamper

Karen F. Stamper

12/20/1947 — 10/14/2025

Karen F. Stamper, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, at Transitional Care of Cascadia in Lewiston. She was born on Dec. 20, 1947, in Orofino to Muril L. and Agnes L. Akkerman.

Karen spent her childhood in Weippe and attended school there until her family relocated to Lewiston in 1960. During the mid-1960s, she met and married Cecil L. Stamper, with whom she shared a loving marriage and raised three children. In the early years of motherhood, Karen accompanied Cecil and their sons to various dam construction sites before settling permanently in Lewiston in the early 1980s.

In the early 2000s, Karen started an in-home day care. She developed a deep affection for the children she cared for and continued babysitting until 2017, building meaningful connections with many families over the years. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She enjoyed playing bingo, loved family trips to the Oregon Coast, backyard barbecues, fishing and spending time outdoors.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Muril and Agnes; her husband Cecil; and her brothers Clarence, Duane and Lyle. She is survived by her sons: Travis (Tammy), of Lewiston, Kyle (Sarah), of Kendrick, and Delano, of Lewiston. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Kylee, Katlyn, Trenton, Tommy and Taylor, and her great-grandchildren: Hunter, Payton, Easton, LJ, Ashtyn, Emerson, Ariana and Emma. Karen is also survived by her sisters Lynn (Lee), of Iowa, Muriel (Lamar), of Elk City, Marsha (Duane), of Clarkston, and Deena, of Lapwai; brothers Muril (NeNe), of Lewiston, Dean (Linda), of Lewiston, and numerous nephews, nieces and extended family.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Lewiston Transitional Care of Cascadia for their compassionate care and kindness shown to Karen and her family throughout her battle with Alzheimer’s disease

A service to honor Karen’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Malcom’s Brower-Wann Funeral Home, 1711 18th St., Lewiston, followed by burial at Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston. A catered reception will be held at the Clarkston Event Center, 841 Sixth St., Clarkston.
