Joyce Elaine Best, 90, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Wedgwood Terrace in Lewiston from complications of a fall. She was born Nov. 26, 1933, in Aberdeen, S.D., to Myrtle (Tapley) and Lawrence Hale. She was the second of five daughters.

She met Dave Best on July 4, 1951, in Omaha, Neb. They married on July 14, 1951. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1995. They remained close friends until Dave’s death earlier this year.

Joyce worked for many years at the Lewiston Elks Lodge and served as a Pink Lady at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. She did beautiful needlepoint, crochet and sewing. She enjoyed dancing and country music

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Charlotte Brown, Darlyne Nice, Shirley Bafik and Caroline Olfuska; former husband Dave Best and daughter Gale Best.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Elaine and Brian Casteel, and Sharon and Don Judd; grandchildren Matthew Judd, Scott Judd, and Brett and Erika Judd; and great-grandchildren William and Eleanor Judd.

There will be no services per her request.
