Fredrick (Fritz) Fliger

Fredrick (Fritz) Fliger

2/8/1962 — 10/30/2020

Fritz B. Fliger, 57, lifelong resident of Juliaetta, passed Friday, Oct. 30, 2020, at Gritman Medical Center because of complications of ALS.

Fritz was born to Carl and Lois (Sherman) Fliger on Feb. 8, 1963, in Lewiston. He graduated from Kendrick High School in 1981. Fritz began working as a logger in 1983 with multiple small logging operations until 1989, when he signed on as a cat skinner with Lawson Logging. He continued with them until they were bought out by Pine Creek Logging, where he stayed on as an operator for a total of 28 years. He finished his working years with South Latah Highway District.

He married his favorite crazy redhead, Cindy (Stockard) Fliger, Sept. 27, 1986, at Cameron, Idaho. He attended and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Juliaetta and was an active and proud member of the Kendrick Lions Club. Fritz enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and snowmobiling. As much as he loved these activities, they paled in comparison to the love and joy he found in his family. Even though he had a quiet demeanor, he was the life of the party. He loved to dance and told his kids and grandsons, “Girls like guys who dance.” He looked forward to hunting camp each year. It was his time to get away and spend time with his hunting partners.

Fritz is survived by his wife, Cindy Fliger, daughter Kayla (Kevin) Collins, and son J.C. (Brooke) Fliger, all of Juliaetta; brother Carl (Lorri) Fliger, of Livingston, Texas; grandchildren Hank, Cash, Roper and Dally Collins and Gentry Fliger, all of Juliaetta.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Fliger; mother Lois Fliger; brother Ernie Fliger; and nephew Kevin Fliger.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 14 at the Kendrick High School gym, with a reception to follow at the VFW Hall, Kendrick. Per Fritz’s request, please dress casual.

Memorial donations can go to the Pat Rush Medical Assistant Fund or the Kolby Anderson Memorial Scholarship. The family would like to send a big thank you to Dr. Standley, the nurses and staff of Gritman Medical Center.

My heart aches for The entire Fliger family. Cindy , Kevin ,and Kayla as well as everyone who knew him. Please know how LOVED he was and that you are all loved and lifted up in prayer as you try to navigate this crazy world without him. He was Definately ONE OF A KIND. Growing up together was a Priveledge to all of us who did. He was what most would think of as shy, but in reality I beleive he was teaching us that it was ok to be quiet and observe and learn from others. He was ALWAYS there for others, no matter what he had going on,he took the time out of his day, to help you. It didnt matter how big or how small of a problem you were having, he made you feel as if what you were going through was as important to him as it was to you. Whether you needed advice ,a laugh, help bucking bales, a ride home from school, help with anything(except math LOL, he hated math!!) or a hug, HE WAS THERE FOR YOU! He was Everything that God intended a man to be. Kind, Loving, Honest, Loyal, Hard working, Sincere, Forgiving,Grateful, Humble,Understanding, and so Unselfish. If you knew him,you loved him , whether you knew it at the time or not, he helped you to become a better person because he was the perfect example of what humanity should be.

RIP my dear friend. Go and ride free in that golden saddle in the sky, that you have truly earned. This world has lost a Very Special Cowboy who will NEVER be FORGOTTEN.

Love you forever my friend

Jo

Cindy, Kayla, J.C., and family,

Please accept my sincerest condolences at Fritz's passing. I only knew Fritz for a few years through the Kendrick Lions, but I really liked what I knew. I know others who have had ALS, and it is a terrible illness and I know if put Fritz and your family through a lot. I was amazed, and I know you are proud, at how courageous and positive Fritz was through it all. I know I couldn't have borne the same fate nearly as well. Fritz will not be forgotten in our community and among his fellow Lions. Bill Warren, Kendrick

Gary and Sally browning

Heaven now has another brave angel. Gary always remembers when Fritz was just a little guy living next to Browning Cut Stock . He heard a noise and there was Fritz butting heads with a goat. He said he couldn’t believe it and he never gave up. How true. Brownings
