Dale Frost

6/5/2026 — 9/2/1940

Dale Joseph Frost went to be with his Lord while surrounded by family Friday, June 5, 2026.

Dale was born Sept. 2, 1940, to Floyd and Dorothy Frost (Nines) in Lewiston. He attended school in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston Senior High School in 1958. While attending high school, Dale worked at Safeway, and after graduation he went to work for the Idaho State Highway Department.

In 1959, Dale joined the United States Air Force and began basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. From there, he attended Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi to train as an air traffic controller.

After completing his training, Dale was assigned to Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Mont.

While stationed there, he married Janet R. Sodorff, of Lewiston in 1960. They later divorced in 1973.

After his discharge from the Air Force, Dale returned to Lewiston and attended Lewis-Clark State College. While attending school, he worked for Ken’s Texaco and drove a school bus for Don Chapin.

Later, he opened Dale’s Richfield at the corner of Thain and Bryden and then went to work for Industrial Parts & Machine as an automotive machinist.

In 1974, Dale married Patricia A. Usselman, who worked at St. Joseph Hospital. Together they had two sons, Joe and Dave Frost.

In 1975, Dale joined the real estate firm of Tomlinson Agency and became a real estate broker in 1977.

He transferred to Spokane, to open the firm’s South Hill office. In 1984, he transferred back to Lewiston to operate the Lewiston and Clarkston branches. During his real estate career, he worked as a broker, managed offices, was active in both residential and commercial real estate sales, and participated in home-building development. After a successful 45-year career in real estate, Dale retired in 2020.

Dale was a past member of the Elks Lodge, Rotary, American Legion, Idaho Pilots Association and Calam Temple. He held a commercial pilot license with multi-engine, instrument and seaplane ratings and was an avid jet boat operator.

Dale’s favorite hobbies included boating, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and the many cruises he and his wife, Pat, enjoyed together to Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, Alaska and the East Coast from Quebec, Canada, to New York.

Dale is survived by his wife, Patricia; his two sons, Joseph (Gina) Frost and David (Nellie) Frost, both of Lewiston; and other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Frost, of Missoula, Mont.; his mother, Dorothy Nines, of Lewiston; his stepfather, Willis Nines; and his sister, Twyla Awothouey, of Florida.

A rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 10, with the funeral Mass celebrated at 11 a.m., at All Saints Catholic Church, 3330 14th St., Lewiston. Family and friends are warmly invited to a memorial luncheon immediately following the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Lewis Clark Animal Shelter.
