Cindy Dowell

Cindy Dowell

4/5/1965 — 11/21/2016

Lucinda Lea Dowell (Shoemake) left this Earth unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016. The loving wife of Dan Dowell of nearly 32 years, and mother to Cara Hibbard and Chris Dowell, and recent grandmother of Reid Hibbard, leaves behind many family and friends as she makes her way to meet up with other relatives in the afterlife. Those who knew her might not even know her by Lucinda (Cindy). But those who knew her best, knew that calling her that was a good way to start a conversation.

Born and raised here in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley to mother Nola Elben and father James Orville Shoemake, Cindy attended Lewiston High School. She enjoyed playing basketball for the high school team, and many of the people she called friends then would call her that today. She graduated from LHS in 1983 and shortly after met the love of her life, Dan Dowell. They were married Feb. 9, 1985, and later that year welcomed their first child, Christopher, into this world. Four years later, their second child, Cara, was born.

Cindy enjoyed the outdoors early in life, whether it was camping with her family, playing organized sports or simply terrorizing the neighborhood with her siblings, Cheri Poole and Doug Shoemake, and friends. She enjoyed being a part of the local bowling league later on, where she created even more lasting friendships. For a large portion of her life, however, one of the things Cindy enjoyed most was being a part of her city league softball team. Not only were her mother (coach Nola Shoemake) and sister Cheri a part of the team, but many of the families strongest friendships stem from those long summer days and nights at the softball fields.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Dan; children Cara (Chad) and Chris (Sherene); grandson Reid; her sister, Cheri; and nieces and nephews Keely and Ryan, Stephanie and Nick, Brittany, Ashley and Dillon.

Those reading this who knew her are probably thinking of stories that have been left from this article. We ask that you bring those stories with you as we celebrate the life of Cindy Dowell from noon to 3 p.m. Dec. 10, 2016, at the Grange Hall in the Clarkston Heights.

We love you, Mom.
