Bonnie Flinn

Bonnie Flinn

4/18/1923 — 8/6/2016

Bonnie Lee Flinn passed on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

Bonnie was born April 18, 1923, in Lewiston, to Lee Valentine and Pearl (Mounce) Whitcomb. She was raised in Cottonwood as the middle child of three girls. She graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1941.

On July 3, 1943, she married Edwin M. Flinn and they made their home in Lewiston. Together they had two daughters, Diana and Ellen. Bonnie spent years as a homemaker raising her two daughters and then as a medical secretary working for Dr. Crismon and Dr. Pakula.

After their daughters were raised, Bonnie and Edwin traveled the world, including trips to Hong Kong and Victoria, British Columbia, to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Edwin passed away on Nov. 27, 1995.

Bonnie then focused on her grandchildren. She took trips with them to watch them play sports, celebrate college graduations and birthdays, and she played host to many gatherings with friends and family. Bonnie enjoyed adding to her souvenir spoon collection and did just that while traveling for a month from Lewiston to Washington, D.C., down to Florida, across Texas and back to Idaho. She also traveled with friends to Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

On April 1, 2009, Bonnie married Robert Zolber and welcomed his family as her own, including two additional daughters along with many grandchildren. The two enjoyed going out to eat, long day drives, plus trips to Madison, Wis., and the Washington coast to see family. Bob passed April 24, 2016.

Bonnie was a master tile rummy player, enjoyed gardening, crocheting and sewing. For many years, she made matching Easter dresses for her four granddaughters. She always had treats waiting for visitors and ice cream in the freezer. She had an undeniable sense of humor that only those who knew her were treated to. She was above all gracious and charming, making friends wherever she went.

Bonnie is survived by her two daughters, Ellen Dekan and husband George of Clarkston, and Diana Flinn of Lewiston; along with eight grandchildren, Dalyn Drake of San Antonio, Dan Drake of Lewiston, Adina Eichorst of Spokane, Brenda Schneider-Hurtrez of Singapore, Christen Lewis of Boise, Daniel Dekan of Coeur d'Alene, Darlene Schneider of Dallas and Bernie Schneider of Clarkston. Additionally, she is survived by nine great-grandchildren.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husbands, Edwin and Robert; along with her parents; and two sisters, Lois Madden and Sallie Drake, both formerly of Seattle.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home, 1711 18th St., Lewiston. Immediately following, a celebration of life reception will be held at the Quality Inn at Clarkston.
