Barbara Teasley

Barbara Teasley

2/1/1937 — 10/4/2015

On Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, we lost a wonderful mother, grandma, great-grandma, wife and friend. Barbara (Milton) Teasley passed away with her family by her side after fighting lung cancer. Today, we are able to rejoice knowing she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Barbara was born Feb. 1, 1937, in Lewiston, to Cleveland and Mary Milton. She attended the Tammany school through junior high and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1954. In school, she enjoyed her classmates and being a band majorette.

She met the love of her life while he was on leave from the U.S. Navy, while working at the Majestic Cafe. He came in and began giving her 50 cents for each 5-cent cup of coffee. He recalled with a chuckle that it got expensive quickly. She and Bobbie E. Teasley were married Feb. 12, 1955, in Lewiston, where they remained happily married for the past 60 years. As a young wife and mother, Barbara loved to serve her community and be involved in her children's lives. She served on the Normal Hill Elementary Parent-Teacher Association board, taught baton lessons, was a room mother and even helped form the Mother's Club at the Boys and Girls Club. They were also active members at the Elks and enjoyed dancing the night away on many evenings.

Above all, Barbara considered her family as her treasure, and spent much of her time serving them in various ways. Many of her years were given taking care of and housing loved ones. Her home was one that was always open to the hungry or lonely, a safe place to rest; she had a generous servant's heart and a wonderful ability to cook for an army. She found endless ways to bless her loved ones over the years and remind them what really mattered.

In her later years, she enjoyed being a grandma and cheerleader to six grandchildren and great-grandma to 12. Her hobbies included gardening, canning, sewing, crocheting, baking for the farmers market and family dinners. She added that extra sparkle to life that will be missed by all.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Bob; her son, Phillip (JoRae) Teasley; her daughter, DeAnna (Michael) Haines; her niece, Linda Emerson; one sister, Norma Jean Bennett; and her grandchildren and their families.

Barbara was preceded in death by her two parents, Cleveland and Mary Milton; two sons, Michael Ray Teasley and Gary Lee Teasley; two brothers, Norman Milton and Cleveland Milton Jr.; one sister, Phyllis Rose Milton; and one stepdaughter, Rebecca Durham.

Please join us for a celebration of her life at 11 a.m. Friday at CrossPoint Alliance Church in Lewiston.
