On Dec. 20, 2014, we lost a great man.
Bud was born Sept. 21, 1943, in Logan, Utah. He moved to Lewiston, where he graduated from Lewiston High School in 1961.
He married Vickey Harris on June 1, 1963, and they had three children together and divorced in 1978. He met Kathy Graham and they were together from 1978 to 2001. He later married Darlene Kernan in 2001; they divorced in 2010.
Bud worked for Potlatch Corp. from 1966 to 1969, then moved to Moscow in 1969 and went to work for NAPA Auto Parts. In 1977, he bought the Side Track Tavern in Lewiston, which he had until 1985. He then went to work for Washington State University until his retirement in 2006. He owned Tom's Tavern in Elk River from 2003 to 2010. Bud loved horses, joined many rodeo events and was a member of the mounted sheriff's posse. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and riding all-terrain vehicles. He helped with the ATV fun runs and annual duck races held in Elk River. He was a life member of the Eagles.
He is survived by his children, Kami (Pat) Nibler, Doug (Bev) Nelson, Shane Nelson, Jerrad Graham and Todd Graham; eight grandchildren; his brothers, Carl and Kenny; and sisters Anne, Sheila, Jenny and Carol.
He was preceded in death by his father, Winston; his mother, Kit; brothers Richard and Billy; sister Michelle; granddaughter Ashley; and grandson Conlin.
There will be a celebration of life this summer in Elk River. The date is to be determined.
