Violet (Vi) Hemphill Wilson, 100, of Lewiston died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. She was born Sept. 11, 1913, to Albert and Lena (Chaussee) Hemphill in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada.

Vi went to grade schools in British Columbia and Washington, then moved to Eagle Rock, Calif., where she graduated from high school. She worked as a cook until 1963, then moved to Gig Harbor, Wash., where she worked as a dental assistant until 1971.

She enjoyed sketching, painting, reading and cooking.

She is survived by her sons, Albert Parke and Roger (Joan) Parke of British Columbia; daughters JoAnne Parke and Eloise Kilback of British Columbia; stepson Gale W. (Marjorie) Wilson of Lewiston; stepdaughter Velda F. (Paul) Hart of Culdesac; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Vi was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and her husband.

A private burial has already taken place. Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
