Thelma Geis passed away April 5, 2014, at Life Care Center in Lewiston.

She was born May 14, 1923, in Grangeville, to Ida and Henry Price. She grew up on the Camas Prairie and the Joseph Plains. She married John W. Geis, and they made their home in Lewiston.

Thelma worked at many jobs during her life, including as a waitress, telephone operator and as a school cook assistant in the Lewiston School District for many years. She was a devoted wife and homemaker and enjoyed her careers. She loved her children, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Mom and Dad spent much time traveling after Dad's retirement, and they enjoyed taking their grandchildren on many trips. Mom and Dad were married for more than 55 years at the time of his death in February 2001. She spent time volunteering after Dad passed away and especially loved volunteering for the Red Cross. Mom loved having her grandchildren with her and loved to baby-sit them, even after Dad passed away until it was no longer possible. She loved listening to books on tape and spent many hours at the library before she could no longer see. She was a member of the Orchards United Methodist Church.

Thelma is survived by her three children, Ed Geis (Becky) of Caldwell, John W. Geis Jr. (Diane) of Apex, N.C., and

Robin Elliot (James) of Lewiston; six grandchildren, Chandra Berg (Leonard) of Clarkston,

Rachael Birk (Jon) of Clarkston, John W. Geis III of Florida, Christa Arnt (Justin) of Boise, Jeanette Stevenson (Shawn) of Boise, LeRoy Palmer of Caldwell; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; brothers Neil, Wallace and Harry Dearing and Joe Price; sister Mae Lancaster; and parents Ida and Henry Price.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Orchards United Methodist Church, 1213 Burrell Ave., Lewiston. Pastor Larry Spaur will officiate, and dinner will follow at the church. Services have been under the direction of Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home
