Shirley Lee Kempster, 84, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, among her family.
Shirley was born Jan. 2, 1933, in Thorne, England, to Gladwyn and Annice Lee. She married William A. Kempster in 1954 in Blackpool, England; they immigrated to Lewiston that same year. They spent the next 63 years raising family and working in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by two brothers, Eric and Barrie Lee.
Shirley, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, was known for her kindness and generosity. Her life's work centered around raising her family and managing aspects of her husband's career as an independent contractor. She became a U.S. citizen in 1998. She remained steadily devoted to generations of her family until her passing.
Shirley is survived by William, her husband of 63 years; her brother, Kenneth Lee of Blackpool, England; her son, Lee, and wife Patricia; granddaughters Heather and Angela; great-granddaughter Celeste; her son, Kevin, wife Pamela, grandson Tyler, granddaughter Shay, great-granddaughter Saryn, and great-grandson Jordan; her daughter, Janice; her son, Brent, granddaughter Brittni, grandson Liam; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Guardian Angel Homes who took the time to know and care for Shirley.
A graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Lewis-Clark Animal Shelter.
