Sandra T. Powell

Sandra T. Powell

1/9/1944 — 1/18/2026

Sandra T. Powell, 82, of Clarkston and Spokane, passed away Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026. She was born Jan. 9,1944, in Orofino to Harold L. and Margaret Powell. Her earliest years were spent on the farm near Orofino on the Camas Prairie until she moved with her family to a farm in Tammany. She loved horses and enjoyed riding through early adulthood. Sandra graduated from Lewiston High School in 1962 and went on to the University of Idaho, graduating in 1966 with a business degree. She was a certified public accountant. Sandra was initially employed as an accountant by Weyerhaeuser Co. She joined Potlatch Corp., in 1967 as a tax accountant and subsequently as supervisor of operations at the data center and as manager of corporate accounting and budgeting. Sandra served as corporate secretary and assistant treasurer 1981-1989. She was treasurer from May 1989–December 1992. Sandra was vice president of finance from Jan. 1, 1993 to May 1998. She served as senior vice president and chief financial officer prior to her retirement in 2000. During her tenure at Potlatch, she worked in the corporate offices located in Lewiston, San Francisco and Spokane. Sandra served on many boards including several bank boards. She was a member of Chapter Q, P.E.O.

Sandra traveled to many cities in the United States in her professional capacity. She personally enjoyed visiting international destinations. Cars were an enduring interest and she owned many over the years — the speedier the better. Always interested in current technology, Sandra was intent on dragging her family into the 21st century with information about the latest devices. After retirement, she enjoyed golfing near her Scottsdale home as well as in Spokane. Her Manito Golf Club friends created “Team Sandy” in support of Sandra in the past year. She greatly appreciated their friendship. Her last year was also brightened by the presence of Lucy, a Miniature Goldendoodle. Sandra was so happy to know that her close friends, Doug and Nan Spedden, adopted Lucy. Sandra and Doug had a ritual of having coffee and discussing stock market news.

Sandra’s quiet faith was demonstrated by her ability to excel in her professional life as evidenced by her extraordinary ascent in a male dominated business world. She was a generous mentor and encouraged many in her business and personal life. Family was very important to Sandy; she was interested in everyone’s activities and enjoyed gatherings as often as possible. Survivors include her sister, Jacquelyn Lloyd, of Lewiston, and nieces Carey Hendron, Jane (Garmin) Lutz, Tonia (Larry) Goffinet, Sally (Bruce) Konen and Cindy (Ray) Wolf. Also surviving are nephews Harold Hendron, Lance (Shari) Woodruff and Kirk (Edwina) Lloyd. Many great- and great-grandnieces and -nephews also survive her. Preceding her in death were her parents, sisters Phyllis Hendron and Carolyn Woodruff and brother Harold Powell Jr., and her niece, Ann (Bruce) Murray.

The family would like to express gratitude to Dr. Brett Gourley, Dr. Zachary Gus and Ascend Hospice for their outstanding care of our beloved Sandra. A private family memorial will take place at a later date.
