Richard S. "Dick" Ruark, 79, of Lewiston, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017. He is now flying high with the love of his life, Ann.
Dick was born July 30, 1937, to Francis and Melvin "Lefty" Ruark. Dick grew up to be "the perfect man." His patience, respect and wise advice are things we will hold onto forever.
Many have known him for his teaching and coaching years at Kendrick and Asotin. Dick also built the greenhouse for the Asotin High School, which had a huge positive impact on kids' lives. If you had the opportunity to meet Dick, you know what I mean by "he changed lives."
Dick married Ann on Dec. 4, 1968.
He had many great accomplishments during his time with us. Dick could build anything. His creativity was unbelievable. He was in the process of finishing up an old Western book that he was writing. And let's not forget his chili and salsa, which were out of this world.
He is survived by children Kirk Ruark, Bill Brakeman, Shannon Elvin and Tobie Ruark. He had many grandkids - Sam and Andy Elvin, Shelbie and Sydnie Ruark, Seth Brakeman, Christopher and Brittney Ruark - and one great-grandchild, Averie Ruark.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1700 Eighth St., Lewiston. A luncheon will follow at the church.
Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home is caring for the family.
