Richard Lewis O'Connor, 72, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully Jan. 15, 2014.

He was born June 22, 1941, in Spokane to Earl R. and Fanchion Lewis O'Connor. He graduated from Shadle Park High School in Spokane. Then he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960-64. On April 10, 1984, he and Sharon Leonard-Clarke were married.

Richard worked for Sanitary Disposal/Sunshine Disposal from October 1985 to December 2010.

In his spare time, Richard enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, gambling, sports, wine-tasting, Super Bowl parties and gatherings of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael O'Connor.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sharon of Lewiston; daughter Sharon A. Lawson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; son Michael E. O'Connor of Gresham, Ore.; stepdaughters Teresa O'Rourke and Lisa Stone, both of Spokane; stepson Paul Clarke of Boise; grandchildren Zachary, Taryn, Shane, Brian, Casey, Justin and Caitlyn; niece Katie Rautman and nephew Brian O'Connor, both of Seattle; sister-in-law Sally O'Connor of Seattle; and other brothers- and sisters-in-law, as well as many close friends.

A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the barn at Guardian Angel Homes, 2421 Vineyard Ave., in Lewiston. Sister Margie Schmidt of Lewiston will officiate the service.

Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home of Lewiston is handling arrangements.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the humane society, the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Lewis-Clark Valley or any other local charity.
