Richard B. "Dick" Johnston passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, and went to join his wife, mother and father in heaven.
Dick was born April 2, 1952, to Irene and Gilbert Johnston, and grew up in the Palouse area, moving to Lewiston in 1969. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1971 and worked at Holsum Bakery, then started his career with Potlatch Corp., retiring 28 years later.
Dick married his beautiful wife, Tammy Jean Luther, on June 25, 1977, and was happily married for 25 years.
Dick lost his wife due to cancer in 1998 and never remarried. Dick and Tammy had a love for children and became foster parents in the early 1970s. They adopted and raised Nicole and Jessica Johnston.
Dick enjoyed tying flies, camping and cooking, but most of all playing games and cracking jokes on friends and family.
He is survived by brothers Dean and Bob Johnston; several nieces and nephews; his three daughters, Nicole, Jessica and Esther; and five grandchildren: Tammy, Chase, Chancelor, Jackson and Alaya.
A memorial service will be held at noon Jan. 7 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1123 16th Ave., Clarkston. A potluck-style dinner will follow at the church.
