Richard James Wayne passed away Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Lewiston, of age-related causes. He was 89.
Dick was born Dec. 14, 1927, in Clarkston, to Temple and Goldie (Carr) Wayne. He attended Craigmont High School and graduated in 1945. Dick enlisted in the U.S. Army and saw active combat in Korea, achieving the rank of corporal.
Upon discharge from the Army, Dick returned to Craigmont and began his company, Wayne Logging, in 1954. He and Judy Hendricks were wed June 2, 1957, and they made their home in Craigmont. Dick worked for Bill Ray Logging until 1966, when he and Judy moved to the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley and he began work for Almon Construction. Dick retired in 1998.
Dick was a proud member of the National Rifle Association and was a very active Republican. He was a loving father and enjoyed helping his daughter with horse shows and FFA projects. Dick also was an outdoorsman and had a wealth of knowledge on numerous topics.
Dick is survived by his wife, Judy Wayne; daughter and son-in-law Meg and John Miller; the son he always wanted, Brian Collier; and the daughter he'd love to have, Laura Collier; as well as many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Temple and Goldie Wayne.
Dick requested no services. The family suggests that any memorial donations may be made in his name to the Idaho State Veterans Home.

He was a great man. I am at a loss. He was like a second father when I was kid.
