Renee Calkins

Renee Darlene Calkins entered into rest Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, surrounded by her loved ones.

Renee was born Jan. 21, 1960, to Darlene Lee Moore and Leroy Russell in Tillamook, Ore. She moved to Lapwai when she was 10 years old.

Renee was an alumna of Lapwai Elementary, Middle School and High School. This is where she met her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Alan Calkins.

Alan and Renee were married Dec. 30, 1975. They would have celebrated their 40th anniversary this month. They resided in Lapwai, where they raised their two children, Anna Marie and Michael Alan. She was blessed with two grandsons, Reese and Chase, who were the light of her life.

Renee worked with the Lapwai School District for 32 years. Renee loved each child she worked with as her own and believed in everyone. She made them feel like they could do and be anything. They always had her love, loving smile, kind words and guidance. Renee also enjoyed putting kids on the fence.

Renee is survived by her husband, Alan; daughter Anna Marie; son Michael; grandsons Reese and Chase; sister Linda Brown; brother James Brown; and countless family and friends.

Renee was preceded in death by her mother, father and sister Roxanne Hayes.

Services to celebrate Renee's life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lapwai Assembly of God.
