Paul Hatfield

Paul Hatfield

10/8/1943 — 3/27/2016

Paul Marvin Hatfield of Lewiston passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016, of natural causes in Lewiston. He was 72.

Paul was born Oct. 8, 1943, in Lewiston, to Sylvan Hatfield and Florence Gentry. He graduated from Colfax High School and had some education at Walla Walla Community College.

He married Pepper Long in 1964 at Colfax; they later divorced in 1985. He then married Carolyn (Hall) Hatfield in 1988 in Coeur d'Alene, and they divorced in 1996.

He was a welder for most of his life. He worked for Whitman County from 1961 to 1967 in Colfax; Stack Steel from 1967 to 1970 in Spokane; Northwest Oxygen from 1970 to 1974 in Spokane and Lewiston; and Broemling Brothers Steel and Iron from 1974 to 2006 in Lewiston, when he retired.

He was a member of the Masons starting in 1970, Shriners in 1975 and the Elks since 1974. He was also president of Lewiston Babe Ruth Baseball from 1983 to 1985.

The only thing he enjoyed more than a good laugh was making others laugh. He was skilled in the art of storytelling. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and watching baseball at the NAIA World Series.

He is survived by his brothers, Roy Hatfield of Selah, Wash., and Larry Hatfield of Seattle; sister Dorthey Hulse of Colfax; sons Shaun (Caroline) Hatfield of Lewiston and Ted Hatfield of Clarkston; and grandchildren Carly Hatfield, Mackenzie Parker and Jena Hatfield.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother, Don Hatfield.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Masonic Hall on 18th Avenue in Lewiston and will be officiated by Lyn Nelson of Colfax.

Memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Spokane in Paul Hatfield's name.

Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Please sign the online guest book at www.malcomsfuneralhome.com.
