Mildred Louise Gibbs passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Life Care Center in Lewiston.
Millie was born Feb. 15, 1927, at Spalding, to Emma and Henry Kress. She graduated from Lapwai High School in 1945. After graduation, she met and married a young fellow named Donald Gibbs and they were married in Kendrick in 1946.
They lived in the Spalding area for the rest of their lives. Most of you know Millie as working the fruit stand on U.S. Highway 12 or from playing bingo at the Moose Lodge or at the Eagles Lodge in Lewiston, where they had many friends.
For more than 60 years, they loved traveling to southern Arizona, Nevada and especially to Las Vegas, their favorite place.
She worked at the fruit stand during the day and somehow managed to cook wonderful meals for the workers and the family. Millie and Don were married 65 years, and after four years they are finally back together.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda; grandson Larry Gibbs; two sisters, Pauline McCarthy and Irene McGinnis; and three brothers, Harold, Don and Wendell Kress.
She is survived by two sons, Marvin of Lewiston and Jerry (Anna) of Spalding; grandsons Brandon Gibbs, Donnie Gibbs and Jared (Kelly) Hillman; granddaughters Amber (Danny) Schoening, Jackie (Allen) Thompson and Jennifer Gibbs; seven great-grandkids; and many great-great-grandkids.
Millie was a wonderful person, wife and mother and was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Burial has taken place. A covered-dish dinner celebration of life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Moose Lodge in Clarkston.
