Marlene T. Samsel went to be with the Lord Thursday, July 2, following a brave struggle with a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 8, 1945, in Medina, N.Y., the daughter of Marvin and Eva Trump. She was preceded in death by her father, brother Marvin Jr. and sister Kathleen.
Marlene is survived by her mother, Eva Trump of Medina; her husband and love of her life, Duane Samsel of Clarkston; her children and their spouses, Rick and Carey La Fave, Tina La Fave, Marshall and Lisa La Fave, Anna Canady, Evette and Chris Cay, and Eva Cornett and her fiance, Will Sutton; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Marlene loved being a homemaker and sharing the love of her family. She was the best cook in the world, according to many expert taste-testers. She enjoyed decorating and making her home a place of welcoming comfort and beauty.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. July 11 at Malcolm's Brower-Wann Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Morrowtown Cemetery.

I did not know Marlene, but I've known Duane for 45 years. I know his heart is broken that he lost the love of his life and his best friend. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who cared about Marlene to give the comfort and courage. She must have been a very special person.
