Kay L. Berry passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at his home in Lewiston at the age of 80.
Kay was born to George and Marguerite Rosenau Berry on Aug. 29, 1934, in Moscow. He spent his early years in Genesee and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1952. He married Doris Jolstead in 1956 and the two of them raised three boys wile Kay served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a pilot, flying numerous aircraft over the course of his career, his favorite being the RF-101 Voodoo. Kay served in Vietnam, Korea, at the Pentagon, as the director of reconnaissance for U.S. Air Forces Europe and as the command project officer for the coordination of the stealth fighter program (F-117 Nighthawk). Kay retired in 1985 as a full colonel after 31 years of service.
Kay is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris; sons Brian (Denise) and Craig (Sheila) Berry; brother Ron (Janene) Berry; and sister Anne Marie (John) Kemp; grandchildren Kaylan and Hannah Berry.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Doug Berry.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lewiston with burial following at Saint John's Lutheran Cemetery in Genesee. A viewing will be held beforehand at 9:30 a.m. at Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home at 1711 18th St. in Lewiston.
