June Boyer

June Boyer

7/29/1936 — 2/17/2014

Heaven has gained another angel.

June E. Boyer passed away from cancer on Feb. 17, 2014, surrounded by her family at home.

She was born July 29, 1936, to Clifton (Shorty) and Lita Whipple. She grew up on Webb Ridge and the Lapwai Valley that she was so proud to call home. She is survived by two brothers, Donald Whipple of Lewiston and Robert Whipple of Sterling, Ill.

June attended Lapwai schools. In 1952, she married her sweetheart, Larry Boyer. They were young, but June had such backbone, strength and spirit that she was a major part of the building of the Boyer farm. She did the book work, truck driving, running cattle and raising a son and five daughters. June was always busy tending to her beautiful yard and home. She was a 4-H leader for many years. She also participated in the parent-teacher association, Cowbells, 49ers Club and Booster Club.

She was a lifelong fan of Lapwai sports, mainly basketball. She played herself as a Lapwai Hooperette. She enjoyed going to the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas for many years. June rarely missed a Bloomsday race.

June had an eye for decorating. That is plain to see in the McCall cabin she loved to visit with her family and friends. June, along with her husband, started Valley Foods at Lapwai in 1983. She loved to work there for 29 years. She was devoted every year to planting flowers outside the store.

June was proud of her 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. June was preceded in death by her parents; brother Dean Arnold; and a sister, Gladys Rae.

She is survived by husband Larry; son Steve and Shirley and their children Buck, Bryan, Betsy and Beau; daughters Renee and Kelly Konen and their children Cody and Levon; Kelli Feddersen and children Austin and Lita; Lori and Bill Barton; Casey Gibbins and children Tileena, Jay and Sammi; Jolee and Jeff Bacon and daughter Jacey. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Kyra, Jayden, Brock, Triston, Blake, Adison, Harper and Reece.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Lapwai School District Athletics Program, P.O. Box 247, Lapwai, ID 83540.

Viewing will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home, 1711 18th St., Lewiston. Funeral services will be at noon Monday at the Lapwai High School gymnasium.

Mom, we will think of you every day. You're in our hearts forever.
