Joyce Payton

Joyce S. Payton passed away May 28, 2014, in Lewiston. She was 70 years old.

Joyce was born July 27, 1943, to Plennie and Hattie Jones in Orofino. She was the sixth of seven children. She grew up in Pierce, Peck and Stites and ended up settling in Kamiah for many years. She married Gale Payton in Lewiston. Joyce was a certified nursing assistant and worked seasonal jobs clipping fish in Orofino at the hatchery. She also enjoyed volunteering at the food bank in Kamiah.

Joyce is survived by her children, Harriet, Calvin, Aurora, Gerald and Melinda; as well as her sister, Mary. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gale Payton; daughter Liz; a grandson, Frank; and one sister and four brothers.

There will be a memorial at noon June 14 at Beachview Park in Clarkston, with a covered-dish diner to follow as a celebration of life. Please leave your condolences atwww.malcomsfuneralhome.com.
