Joshua Ian Hight of Lewiston passed away on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023. He was 43 years old.
He was born July 26, 1980, in Lewiston to John W. and Robin Linehan Hight. Josh graduated Lewiston High School in 1998 and attended Lewis-Clark State College. He has worked for Industrial Electric Supply in Lewiston with his father-in-law, and at Columbia Electric Supply for the past 18 years.
If you knew Josh, he wore his heart on his sleeve. He was a hugger, a kisser, a talker, a karaoke singer, an epic storyteller, a laugher and a crier. He felt deeply and he loved deeply. If you were lucky enough to call him a friend, he had your back. If you were lucky enough to call him brother, our adage was, “I can pick on my brother, but you can’t!” And we meant it. He loved his family fiercely and wholeheartedly.

Josh never stopped the quest of learning and bettering himself throughout his life. As a child he was learning karate, skateboarding and electric guitar. He also enjoyed playing Nintendo and riding bikes to the river. He and his brothers loved skiing and tubing at Dworshak Reservoir with their grandparents Nana, a lady Marine, and Poppy, the Sergeant Major, whom Josh loved dearly and he rarely missed an opportunity to tell you about their service to our country. As a teen, he enjoyed the mountains, hunting and working with his dad and snow skiing at Bluewood.
After high school in 1998, he met the love of his life Lindsey Walters, they were married in 2001. If you know anything about the Hight boys, then you know it takes a hell of a woman to keep them in line. Through his father-in-law, he started working in electrical sales where he showed natural talent. Josh was proud of his sales record and doing his best work for his many regular clients. He excelled at every hobby he tried, from breeding African fish, learning to snowboard, golf, building rifles and bass, steelhead and salmon fishing. He loved taking friends out and making sure they caught a pig.
But of all his accomplishments, the thing he was the proudest of was becoming a father to Silas Ian in 2010. Just as Josh had learned from our father and uncles, Silas is well on his way to becoming a man. Josh treasured the moments he spent with his son like watching him play football, riding dirtbikes, watching movies and steelhead fishing.
Josh believed in earning and giving respect, caring for women, protecting his family and helping a stranger in need. The mark he left on many will always be felt and his love and memory live on through his wife and son. He was a proud son, a devoted brother, a loving husband and a caring father. He will be fiercely missed.
His compassion as a young boy for Grandma Helen and Grandpa George was so heartwarming. He helped with their care and kept them company. His compassion for his aging grandparents was inspiring. He loved his Nana and Poppy, and respected their values and examples.
He is survived by his wife, Lindsey Renee Hight and Silas Ian Hight, of Lewiston; parents John and Robin Hight of Lewiston; brothers Travis (Jenn) Hight, Eric (Keicia) Hight; of Lewiston and Zane (Gabbi) of Clarkston, father and mother-in-law Ty and Nadine Walters of Clarkston, and many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by grandfather Ronald J. Linehan Jr., grandmother Betty Linehan and uncle Ronald J. Linehan III.
There will be a celebration of life at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Holiday Inn, 700 Port Drive, Clarkston. We invite all who were lucky enough to know Josh to come share stories and wear your favorite Nike shoes. Josh enjoyed many pairs of custom Nikes.
