Jordan Benedict Big Man-Gossage, beloved son of Julianne Christina Big Man and Cody Allen Gossage, took his last breath in his mother's arms Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
He was born May 12, 2014, and was known affectionately as Little Man and Sweetie, among other fond nicknames. He was a member of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe. Since the day he was born, he was known as Little Chief. Jordan was a direct descendent of Chief Max Big Man of the Crow Tribe and longtime Chairman Don Matheson of the Puyallup Tribe.
Jordan's handsome face and fun-loving spirit made him the center of attention. He was incessantly happy; his infectious smile lit up the room. He was known for his joyful laugh and his love of growling. Jordan was loved by many and possessed the ability to wrap people around his little fingers. Of course, he knew it.
Jordan loved watching TV and was especially fond of basketball, football and cartoons. His all-time favorites were the Seattle Seahawks and the movie "Turbo." Among his favorite toys were his monkey and elephant rattles and his frog, but most of all he loved his "jump." He was well-known for his side-to-side jumping pattern - a sight that his parents loved to watch. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his loving parents; grandparents Heidi Gossage and Dan Aguilar, Arnold and Stacey Gossage, and William and Catherine Big Man, all of Lewiston; uncle Andrew Gossage of Lewiston; aunt Dawn Big Man of Lewiston; and numerous great-great-grandmothers, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. today and a funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Pi Nee Waus Community Center in Lapwai. Pastor Antonio Smith will preside.
