Our family chain was broken on Friday, March 29, 2019, when our beloved husband, dad, papa, son and brother passed away unexpectedly at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, with his family by his side.
John was born on Dec. 12, 1953, in Bay City, Texas, to Audrey Sparks Genzer and John Felix Genzer Sr. As a boy, he grew up in McAllen, Texas. This is where he met his soulmate and the love of his life, Joyce Fulcher. They were married on April 18, 1974, in Clovis, N.M. They would have been married 45 years in April. They moved their family to Lewiston in 1987.
John loved his family more than anything else, along with his beloved dog, Annie.
He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and his vegetable garden.
He leaves behind his wife, Joyce; daughters Jennifer (Darin) Biggs of Wimberley, Texas, and Jodie (Mark) Kinzer of Lewiston; son Brody (Melinda) Genzer of Lewiston; grandchildren Jobey (Aeriane), Kristen, Jordyn, Morgan, Courtney, Jaelyn, Darek, Tycee and Aria; his mother, Aubrey Genzer; sister Sandy (Dan) Hintz; in-laws Donna and Earl Stamper and Debora and L.D. Burrow; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Melissa Genzer; and his father.
We ask everyone to join us for a graveside service at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, at Normal Hill Cemetery. Please feel free to wear your favorite football attire in John’s honor.
We also want to give thanks to St. Joseph’s ER, OR, ICU, and Dr. Dir, Dr. Jones and nurses Shaina, Sam and Ian for the excellent care you provided for our husband and father the last few days of his life.
