John Alvie Corwin passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at the age of 87. John was born to Gerald and Winona (Meador) Corwin on April 25, 1929, at Webb Ridge.
John spent all his life in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley and surrounding areas. He married the love of his life, Armetha Sams, on Aug. 11, 1951, in Lewiston, and had three girls that he adored (his favorite daughter Sharla, his favorite daughter Valerie and his favorite daughter Lisa). John's passion was driving a truck, and over the span of his career as a teamster, he drove for Lutes Logging, PWT, Empire Grain and Pea, DeAtley Corp., Steelman-Duff, Boyer Sand and Gravel, and also served as an owner/operator.
When John wasn't driving a truck, he loved spending time with his family enjoying the great outdoors. After semi-retiring, he and his wife Armetha and their Boston terriers spent several winters in Arizona exploring the wonders of the desert and taking in the sunshine.
John is survived by Armetha, his wife of 64 years; their daughters and spouses, Sharla and Fred Pace of Hayden, Idaho, Valerie and Chris Dickamore of Lewiston, and Lisa and Herb Boreson, also of Lewiston; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his two sisters, Betty Nystrom and Peggy Davis; and grandson Riley Boreson.
His memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stanislaus Church, 633 Fifth Ave., Lewiston, located near St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
Special thanks to Joy Cook and her staff at Serenity Place and Pleasant Valley Assisted Living for their loving kindness and care.
The Rev. Fred Pace and the Rev. Herb Boreson will be officiating at the service. Lunch will follow at the church.
