Jeanette Gruell

Jeanette Gruell

7/28/1937 — 8/14/2024

Jeanette Louise “Jean’e” Cridlebaugh Gruell, our beloved mother, wife, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, “GG,” entered into heaven at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024.

Jean’e was born July 28, 1937, in Cameron, Idaho, and lived in Leland Idaho, to Gerald Francis Cridlebaugh and Louise Emma Marie Schmidt.

Jean’e moved to Lewiston in 1948 and graduated from Lewiston High School with the class of 1955. She married Richard Lee “Dick” Gruell on Sept. 2, 1955, for 52 years, in her heart for 68 years 11 months and 12 days.

She met and married companion Bill Shane in 2012; he passed in 2023.

She was an active member of the Orchards Community Church.

Jean’e had many lifelong friends, with whom she played cards, and was also known to play slot machines with her sister Shirley. She loved traveling south camping in their RV and going to the coast with family and friends.

Jean’e and Dick loved to drive down to Reno, Nev. and Jackpot, Nev. with their friends, including “Little Grandma,” the Canners, the McKays and anyone who liked to gamble. She loved to travel — any cruise ship she was always ready to go.

Growing up as kids, our whole family spent a lot of time at Black Lake, water skiing, riding bicycles, hiking, fishing and sitting by the fire and just enjoying family. All of their friends at Black Lake had property and cabins (older big trailers) worked at the Potlatch Mill (PFI). Our family loved to snowmobile, camp, and just have fun in Elk City and Selway river.

On our Mom and Dad’s 50th wedding anniversary, Tracy, Kelly and Gina, along with there spouses and several grandkids, cruised around all the islands of Hawaii.

Jean’e liked to go to Texas to see her best friend Barb and cousin Jack, also her granddaughter and great-grandkids, Katia and Jesse.

Always on the go, Jean’e’s calender was always full. She loved the West Coast, especially the beauty of the ocean and the sunsets. She just loved all people and was also very good at direction.

Jean’e is survived by one sister, Shirley and Bill Templeton; daughters: Tracy Webster Gruell and Richard, and Gina and Bob Sparks; son Kelly and Carmen Gruell; grandkids: Chris and Heather LaVoie, Tyler and Michele LaVoie, Katia and Jesse Kurts and Kinsey and Thomas Weakland; great-grandchildren: Trevor, Brayden, Emma, Hunter, Zane, Cole and Riley Kurts; Roselynn, Bennett and Sullivan LaVoie and Cameron LaVoie.

She is preceded in death by her parents Gerald F. Cridlebaugh and Louise Emma Marie Cridlebaugh; her husband Dick Gruell, and her son Jerry Gruell.

At Jean’e’s request no service will be held. Jean’e’s and Dick’s ashes will be spread at some of their favorite places here on earth.

Memorial donations may be made to Oasis Rest International, C/O Mark Brewster, 2923 Mayfair Ridge, Lewiston, ID 83501.
