Janet Nickolet Robel passed away Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. Janet was born April 6, 1951, in Lewiston, to Vernon and Della (Hosig) Robel. Janet graduated from Lewiston High School in 1969. She earned a bachelor's degree from Lewis-Clark State College.
Janet found her joy in life when she began traveling after graduation from high school. Her travels included many visits to Israel. In one of her early traveling adventures, Janet reunited with the Hosig family ancestors in Switzerland, opening a connection and friendship for many of our family members to our ancestral home. She met many friends in her travels. She has continued to enjoy and share life with this circle of friends. Janet also opened her home in Seattle to foreign exchange students and formed a lasting, heartfelt bond with some of these students and their families. Janet was a gregarious, caring lady who cared deeply about her family members and many friends.
She recently moved back to Lewiston after spending most of her life in Seattle. Still settling in her new apartment, many of Janet's and our plans did not come to fruition. Janet was a loved sister, aunt, cousin and friend who is deeply missed.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her brother, Ed and his wife, Linda, of Lewiston; and brother David and his wife, Perlitta, of Seattle. She is also survived by many family members who shared a very important role in her life.
At Janet's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Janet's life is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at Crosspoint Alliance Church, 1330 Powers Ave., Lewiston. This will be a time to come share your memories of Janet.
