James Robert Brodie passed away Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, at his home in Culdesac. He was 75. Jim was born April 23, 1941, in Palo Alto, Calif., to John David Brodie and Jean (Schomberg) Arney.
He graduated from Palo Alto High School in 1960.
Jim was raised in Palo Alto and Los Altos, Calif. He married Sandra Joan Antonelli Brodie on Aug. 5, 1962, in Capitola, Calif. They were married 54 years. They lived in Santa Cruz County, Calif., until 1976, when they moved to Emmett, Idaho, and lived there until 1980, when they moved back to California. When Jim retired from a career as a service station owner in 2006, he and Sandra moved to Culdesac. After he retired and until he passed away, he was a farmer.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, gold dredging, wood cutting, camping and picking up rocks on his property to make a beautiful alfalfa field. He also liked skiing, swimming and spending time with his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sandra Brodie of Culdesac; his son, Ronald J. Brodie (Lucy), of Paicines, Calif.; his daughter, Roxan Lomanto (Jim) of Culdesac; four grandsons, Elliot Brodie, Cory Brodie, Jimmy Lomanto and Jack Lomanto; a sister, Dianne Eisenman (Mike) of Ripon, Calif.; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jean.
There will be a celebration of life at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Culdesac Community Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Culdesac Junior High and High School.
