Irma Jean (Gupton) Cummings passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Feb. 3, 2014, at St Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston due to complications of a stroke.
Born Oct. 9, 1932, to Day Owen and Pearl Gertrude (Gaiser) Gupton at Whites Hospital in Lewiston, mom graduated from Lewiston High School in 1950 and married Harold Joseph Alfrey. Together they had three children, Loren (Lonnie) Harold Alfrey, Cally Jean (Alfrey) Meyer and Larry Day Alfrey. They later divorced.
In 1974, she met and married Ben E. Cummings; they were married 39 years.
Mom was an avid bowler, along with both of her parents. Together Mom and Ben enjoyed their yearly fishing trip to Lake Mary Ronan, Mont. Mom and Ben also enjoyed their vacations at the Sherman Howe mine in the Burgdorf area as well as camping, four-wheeling and the annual trip to hunting camp with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Survivors include her children, Larry (Jeannine) Alfrey, Cally (John) Meyer; stepson Bennie (Vickie) Cummings; stepdaughter Dee (Don) Solom; cousin Arlene Ambach; daughter-in-law Pat Alfrey; along with cousins Carol (Mike) Coleman and Francis (Spencer) Hampton; grandchildren Talainya, Crystal, Chantell, Sheila, Stephanie, Lauren, Travis, Amy and Lacey; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband Ben; eldest son, Lonnie; cousin Charlene Gaiser; and grandson Richard Joseph Glover.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Malcoms Brower-Wann Funeral Home, 1711 18th St., Lewiston.
