Ilene Lorraine Lawrence died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 24th, at her Lewiston residence. She was 30 years young.
Ilene was born July 18, 1986 to Irene Lawrence of Lapwai. She was blessed to have two mothers, her biological mother and her aunt/mother who raised her and loved her as her own, Edna Lawrence and Roger Robinett.
She was an enrolled member of the Nez Perce Tribe and attended Lapwai School District her entire life, graduating from Lapwai High School in 2004. Ilene was well oved by all of her classmates and was known as the “class clown” due to her gift of making everybody laugh. She had a gift for turning uncomfortable and/or sad situations into light-hearted and humorous ones. She was remembered by her high school teachers for her beautiful smile and laughter.
Ilene was a member of a large and close-knit family and was blessed to become a mother to her son, Rushawn, who was the joy of her life.
At the time of her death, Ilene had just enrolled at LCSC. She was taking proactive steps to advance her life and build a future for herself and her son. She was motivated and inspired by the love she had for him. Her beautiful spirit spread joy to everyone who was blessed to have come in contact with her.
Ilene is survived by her son, Rushawn Amor Seldon; mother, Edna Lawrence of Lewiston; brother, Francis (Jessica) Lawrence of Lewiston; sister, Cecelia Able (Chris George) of Kamiah; sister, Angela Lawrence of Lewiston and brother, Isaac Lawrence of Lapwai.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Lawrence; brother, Christopher; sister, Hannah and her grandparents, Norma and Cyrus Lawrence, Sr.
A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, August 27, at 4:00 p.m., at the Pi-Nee-Waus Community Center with burial following at Jacques Spur Cemetery in Culdesac. A dinner will immediately follow at the Pi-Nee-Waus.
