Grace Adell Bundy

Grace Adell Bundy

5/9/1951 — 4/26/2026

Grace Adell Bundy learned to ride horses before she learned to walk and on April 26, 2026, she made her final ride home to be with her Heavenly Father after a courageous battle with cancer.

Grace was born to Gordon and Myrtle Bundy at Tri-State Memorial Hospital, in Clarkston, and was raised on the family farm outside Culdesac. A fiery redhead with an adventurous spirit, Grace loved horses, wide open spaces, and the kind of hard work that shaped both her strength and independence. She attended school in Culdesac from first grade through graduation, graduating in 1969.

She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Lewis-Clark State College and later attended Colorado State University, where photography briefly captured her attention and creativity. But Grace’s restless spirit and desire to serve eventually led her to join the United States Army in 1983.

Her military career took her across the country and around the world, including assignments in Germany, Puerto Rico, Arizona, New York, California, Georgia and Texas. Along the way, she served as a drill sergeant, recruiter, mentor, and leader, earning the respect of those around her through her determination, grit and unwavering work ethic. Grace retired proudly in 2007 from Fort Sam Houston as a Master Sergeant E-8.

After retirement, Grace returned home to the family farm and devoted herself to the things she loved most. Her hands rarely stayed still, she created beautiful leatherwork, crafting custom saddles, wallets, and bookmarks that became treasured gifts for friends and family. She also discovered a love for music and proudly became the owner of four ukuleles, always enjoying the chance to learn something new.

In 2010, Grace found a close circle of faith and friendship through The Walk with Christ, a non-denominational Christian community that became a deeply meaningful part of her life. Through her faith, volunteer work and quiet generosity, she formed lifelong friendships and touched many lives. Grace was strong-willed and independent, but she also had a deeply caring heart and found great joy in encouraging and serving others.

In February, after much prayer and reflection, Grace made the decision to stop further treatment and enter comfort care at Royal Plaza. Though her journey was not easy, her faith remained steadfast. She often spoke of experiencing true Agape love through the countless cards, visits, prayers and messages from friends and family. Even in her final days, she continued to touch the hearts of those around her, including the staff who lovingly cared for her.

Grace was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Gordon and Myrtle; her older brother, Ben; and her younger sister, Kathleen. She is lovingly survived by her brother-in-law, Lee; his children, Kris (Shawn), Jason (Alison), and Jeremy; and her cherished nieces and nephews: Makayla, Angela Grace, Aiden, Brandee, Blake, Deric, Eric and Erica.

Grace will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her creativity, her stubborn strength and the personal way she made people feel loved – whether through a handmade gift, a word of encouragement, or simply showing up when someone needed her.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at First Church of God, 910 Sycamore St., Clarkston. Lunch will follow. Grace has been cremated and will be buried at 4 p.m., following the celebration of life, at their family plot at 1650 Troy Road, in Moscow. Family and friends who would like to attend the burial are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, Grace would like donations to be made to: The Walk with Christ (Endowment Fund), or First Church of God (attention Kathy Brown, Treasurer) 910 Sycamore St., Clarkston WA 99403.
