Florence Luella Bowen Larson was born July 5, 1934, to Viola Taylor Nobles Bowen and Harmon Joseph Bowen at Spokane. The family moved to Kellogg, Idaho, in 1937, where her dad opened a cabinet shop. She attended elementary school at Silver King and graduated from Kellogg High School in 1952. Florence grew up fishing and hunting with her dad. Her family was among those who pioneered skiing at Lookout Pass, and she had fond memories of skiing with her girlfriends in the Silver Valley.
In June 1951, Florence met a very special man, Virgel Larson. They were married July 25, 1952. They spent the next 63 years together until Virgel's death in 2015. They were blessed with three children, Brian, Kellie and Kerry.
Florence graduated from Lewis-Clark State College in 1970 with a bachelor of science degree in education. In retirement, Florence was a member of the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, Century Club, Grace Lutheran Church and YWCA. Florence enjoyed gardening, reading, playing bridge, holiday celebrations, dancing, socializing and her family.
She is survived by her sister, Bellona Lassfolk; her children, Brian and Wendy Larson of Lewiston, Kellie and Jim DeBlasio of Boise, and Kerry and Dennis Jones of Boise; grandchildren Scout Larson, Catherine and James DeBlasio, Carrie (Nick) McKenna Tennison of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Megan (Anthony) McKenna McNeese of Round Rock, Texas; and great-grandchildren Rebecca Florence Tennison, Clara Hazel Tennison and Michael Axel McNeese.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; brother Robert James Bowen; and her husband, Virgel Axel Larson.
Florence was able to pass away peacefully at her home of 55 years with her loving family and friends. Her family would like to thank the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center's Hospice staff for their loving care and help.
A celebration of Florence's life will be held in the not-too-distant future.
The love of our mother and father are always with us; the rest is pure air.
"Let the beauty, delightfulness and favor of the Lord be upon us." - Psalm 90:17
