Ethel Beckner, a retired florist, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at Kindred Care Center in Lewiston from causes related to age. She was 98.
Ethel was born July 6, 1916, in Dove Creek, Colo., to John and Ruth Alliger.
She graduated the eighth grade in Colorado. She married Walter Beckner in Colorado, and the couple moved to Lewiston, where she opened her flower shop while Walter worked at Potlatch. Ethel enjoyed gardening and cooking.
She is survived by her daughter, Helen Chambers of Lewiston; son Gordon Beckner of Lewiston; sister Viola Oedewaldt of Clarkston; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; sister Myrtle Smith; brother Fred Alliger; son Johnny Beckner; son-in-law Lester Chambers; great-grandson Casey Roth; and stepgrandson Tony Shantie.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens.
