Ernest Tweit

Ernest Wayne Tweit of Lewiston passed away the morning of Friday, Jan. 8, 2016. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.

Ernest "Ernie" was born Sept. 13, 1947, in Spokane, to Einar and Virginia Tweit. He graduated from Mandan, N.D., in 1965. He attended North Dakota State University, Lewis-Clark State College and the University of Idaho.

He worked at Pullman-Moscow TV Cable Company from 1968 to 1988. He continued to work in sales, finishing his working career at Applied Industrial Technologies in Lewiston.

Ernie married Sandy McPherson of Palouse in June 1969. They have two children, Brian Tweit and Laurie Toney, both of the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley. Ernie was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was kind, generous and loved his family and those who were blessed enough to call him a friend.

Ernie enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, boating and activities outdoors. Over the years, Ernie was active in numerous church activities, was a Cub Scout scoutmaster, a member of Palouse Lions Club, Mud Clutchers Jeep Club, Palouse Empire Utility Coordinating Council, both Moscow and Pullman chambers of commerce, Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International and most recently Asotin County Jail ministries.

Ernie leaves all of us who knew him with hearts full of fond memories they will always cherish. There is no way to adequately express how generous he was and how much he loved all of us.

Ernie was greeted in heaven by his parents, as well as many aunts, uncles and other loved ones.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Sandy; and his children, Brian (JoAnna) Tweit and Laurie (Brett) Toney; and the pride of his life, his grandchildren, Kourtney, Brooklyn, Addie and Eli. He is also survived by his brother, Ron Tweit; his sister, Becky (Mike) Tefft; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He had a huge heart and an even bigger laugh. His family will never forget his leadership in prayer. He will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Abundant Life Church, 1483 16th Ave., Clarkston.
