Dorothy "Dode" Francis Heartburg, 91, of Lewiston, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017.
Dode McCann was born Oct. 25, 1926, in Lewiston. She was married to Delbert "Fritz" Heartburg on Oct. 22, 1946. They were divorced in 1964.
Dode lived in Lewiston until about age 13. Then the family moved to Nezperce, where her father, Lawrence McCann, was the bank president. Dode graduated from Nezperce High School and then went to college in California for a short time.
Dode married Fritz Heartburg and then moved to Craigmont, where she lived until she was 88. She then moved to Lewiston. Dode worked at the Craigmont Pharmacy for more than 20 years. She then went to work for Berry's Dry Goods - she retired at age 75.
Dode loved to play cards and drink fine wine, and she never passed a casino she didn't like. Dode loved life and loved to laugh.
Dode is survived by her three sons: Larry Heartburg in Scottsdale, Ariz., Terry Heartburg and his wife Becky in Craigmont and Greg Heartburg in Seattle; as well as four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. next Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Nezperce, with a celebration of life to follow.
