Dolly Olson Lear passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at Prestige Care and Rehabilitation, of age-related illnesses. She was 95.
Dolly was born Oct. 18, 1922, in Spokane, to Bjorn Olson and Annie Gigstead Olson. She was raised in Spokane, graduating from John Rogers High School.
She and George Fredrick Lear Sr. were married in July of 1941 in Newport, Wash. They moved to Orofino in 1948 and had three children together. George passed in October of 1962 in Orofino. Dolly and the children moved to Newport, Wash., in 1971, and in 1972, Dolly wed George's older brother, Alfred LeRoy "Poly" Lear, in Newport. He died in August of 1991 in Newport.
In 2002, Dolly moved to Clarkston to be closer to her family. In November of 2017, she took up residence at Prestige Care in Clarkston.
Dolly was an accomplished swimmer and diving champion. She was proud of her many diving medals. She also was a volunteer for both the Newport Chamber of Commerce and the Senior Center and a member of the First Baptist Church in Newport.
Survivors include children Helen Lucille Hyatt and her husband, Rich, of Toledo, Wash., and George "Fred" Lear and his wife JoAnn of Pendleton, Ore.; stepdaughters Luella Paddack of Tigard, Ore., Carol Hamilton (Jerry) of Coos Bay, Ore., Diane Morrow (Jim) of Hillsboro, Ore., and Sandra Madson (Wayne) of Colville, Wash. She was preceded in death by her first husbands, George Fredrick Lear Sr. and Alfred LeRoy Lear; and daughter Patricia Ann Weza.
Viewing will be held at 1 p.m. today at Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home in Lewiston. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Normal Hill Cemetery.
