Dollie Emerson went home to heaven Thursday, April 4, 2019, in Hayward, Calif. Dollie was born May 31, 1919, to Joseph Franklin and Phoebe Florence Hill, in Gifford. Dollie was a longtime resident of Idaho until she moved to California to live with her son, Ted Scott.
Dollie graduated from Lewiston High School in 1927. She married John William Scott and had two sons, Ted and Lonny. John Scott passed away in May 1958. Dollie went on to get her two-year teaching certificate in 1963 from Lewis-Clark Normal School. She taught school in Oregon for several years before returning to Idaho to complete her bachelor’s degree in elementary education at the University of Idaho. She taught elementary school in several small towns in Idaho, including Kooskia and White Bird, before retiring in 1981.
She married Calvin Emerson on June 2, 1986, at Coeur d’Alene. They spent time living both in Idaho and Arizona. Dollie was active in senior groups and in the Nazarene Church. Calvin Emerson passed away in December of 2007, after moving to California, where they resided with Dollie’s son.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Franklin and Phoebe Florence Hill; her son, Lonny Scott; and her husbands.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. May 6 at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens.
