Some people come into our lives and quietly go. Others stay awhile and leave footprints on our heart and we are never the same again.
Denney Joseph Latham was born May 3, 1941, in Pomeroy, Wash., and passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, at his home in Clarkston, Wash. He had many talents in his lifetime: meat cutter by trade but carpenter and rancher in his heart. Denney was kind and respectful to others and his family was the most important to him. He was always willing to make time to help those in need because it was “just the right thing to do.” With many “irons in the fire,” Denney never stood still — his many projects kept him very busy throughout his retirement.
In 1958, he joined the U.S. Army and he served 3½ years at Fort Lewis, Wash. After leaving the Army, Denney moved to Lewiston to be closer to family. In the spring of 1963, he met Ruby Munsterman and they have shared an amazing life for 56 years. Their family officially became complete when son Chad was born in 1974.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby, and son Chad (Bronson Kahele); siblings Robert (Gloria) Latham, Margaret (Les) Jester, Mike (Andi) Petrusky, Barbara Chandler (Howard Jackman) and Kyle (Beverly) Latham; very special great-niece Berkley Fredrick, who shared his love of horses; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Denney was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers.
A friends-and-family gathering honoring Denney and his military service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, 1104 Warner Ave., Lewiston (Orchards), Idaho. Lunch will be provided.
Send condolences to the family home at 2438 Valleyview Drive, Clarkston, WA 99403.
