Deborah K. “Debi” Calkins passed away at the young age of 57 Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

Debi was born to Jimmy and Lila (Rothmeyer) Fowler on April 12, 1959, in Phoenix.

In July 1977, Debi gave birth to her son, Kristopher Kennedy.

On Dec, 16, 1994, she married Shawn Calkins in a simple service at the county courthouse in Lewiston. We celebrated 22 great years together in December.

Debi had several jobs in her short life; working with a carnival company, at a university in Maine, at a pharmacy and running a karaoke business with her husband, Shawn.

In recent years, she spent her time at our home in Lapwai working on crafts, coloring and playing games with her friends on Facebook. One of our favorite accomplishments since we were married was raising several Shih Tzu puppies from birth until their passing, most older than 15 years old.

Debi is survived by her husband, Shawn, at the family home in Lapwai; son Kristopher; along with her grandchildren, Aidan and Addison, who live in Georgia; brothers Kevin of Pennsylvania and Michael, who lives in Michigan; and a sister, Kelly, who lives in Clarkston.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Lila (Rothmeyer) Fowler; and brother Jamie Fowler.

Debi has requested that no funeral or memorial service be held for her so that friends and family can each remember her in their own way. Cremation has taken place at Malcom’s Brower-Wann Funeral Home.
