Derrel Hawk, beloved father, grandfather, brother, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 10, 2015. He was born April 28, 1918, to Delbert and Lottie Hawk in Wendell, Idaho.
He served in the Army during World War II. He worked in communications in the European Theater.
After the war, he worked on his cousin's farm and then for the county road service out of Winchester.
He married Pauline Ellis on April 9, 1950. They had three children: Norman Hawk, Arlene Hawk and Shirley McGarry.
He married Doris Johnson Aug. 17, 1983.
Dad was a very hard worker. He worked at Potlatch from 1953 to 1980. He delivered the Lewiston Morning Tribune for many years. He loved his garden. He had a large garden in which he grew many vegetables. He also had apple trees and nut trees. Some of you may know him as the man who walked the little black dog on the dike. He loved his walks and greeting people. He loved his Lord.
He is survived by his three children, Norman (Reta) Hawk, Arlene Hawk and Shirley (Phil) McGarry; and his two stepdaughters, Becky (Ron) Pomerinke and Rachel (Monty) Gilliam, and their families; grandchildren Breanna, Trevor and Landon McGarry, Michael (Rhonda) Ellis and Jamie Schwartz; brothers Delbert Hawk and David (Pat) Hawk and his sister, Olive Hammond. There are also many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his two wives, Pauline Hawk and Doris Hawk; his parents, Delbert and Lottie Hawk; and his brothers Charlie, Wilber, Val, Merlin, Al, Keith, Kenneth, Jim and Joe Hawk.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the New Life Apostolic Church.
