Bonnie Perkins

Bonnie Perkins

5/22/1934 — 1/21/2014

On May 22, 1934, at 9:08 a.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lewiston, George and Violet Lundvall were blessed with a baby girl, Bonnie LeEllen. Bonnie was energetic, spirited and independent and these qualities sustained Bonnie throughout her life.

Bonnie did venture away from the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley for a short time, but Lewiston was always home where she returned to stay. Bonnie's exquisite taste and class made her the perfect associate at the Vogue Shop in Downtown Lewiston. She was admired by many Vogue costumers for her ability to pull together a flawless outfit for any occasion. When the Vogue closed, Bonnie began her career working at Coles Jewelry and Gifts in the gift shop, where she made many lifelong friends. Not one to be idle, when Coles Jewelry closed she took a position as a door greeter at Walmart in the Lewiston Orchards. Her beautiful smile and true interest in other people made her popular with the Walmart customers, who fondly remember her kindness to everyone she met.

Retirement gave her the opportunity to make her stunning backyard a private retreat, where she had many memorable get-togethers with family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Peggy Simmons Grogan of Lewiston, Steven (Barbara) Simmons of Kendrick, Byron (Kristine) Simmons of Lewiston, Michael (Sandra) Ankney of Clarkston, and Robert (Bob) Ankney and his companion, Robin Bond, of Kennewick; her 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy (Leroy) Teeple of Milwaukie, Ore.; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Toby.

On Jan. 21, 2014, Bonnie peacefully passed away and joined her father, George Lundvall, mother Violet Lundvall-Taylor, brother Donnie Lundvall, sister Geraldine (Gerry) Reed and brother Robert (Bob) Lundvall.

Please join us in a celebration of Bonnie's life at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Calvary Chapel, 1015 Burrell Ave., Lewiston. A covered-dish dinner will be after the service in the church hall.

To honor Bonnie's life, the family suggests memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association in her name.
