Bob Teasley

Bob Teasley

8/18/1930 — 3/11/2016

Bobbie E. Teasley went to be with the Lord and his beloved wife Friday, March 11, 2016, at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Lewiston, as family and friends gathered around him.

Bob left his boyhood home at the early age of 14, as an eighth-grader. He knew the value of hard work and set himself to the task. He joined the U.S. Navy as soon as possible and served his country through the Korean War and overseas on Navy battleships. Upon returning from his service, he met the love of his life in a diner where she worked, and pursued her over nickel cups of coffee and expensive 50-cent tips until she was smitten. They were married for 60 years and had four children together and a lifetime of wonderful memories, many of them in the backyard or around the dinner table. Barbara and Bob enjoyed going out on the weekends together and dancing, or entertaining family and friends any time there was an excuse. Bob was a loving papa to eight grandchildren who enjoyed working alongside him in his workshop, playing pinochle together or working in the garden. In later years, he and Barbara grew many vegetables, berries and gourds; in turn producing wonderful breads, jams and produce for the farmers market, neighbors and loved ones. No one would go hungry around the Teasley family.

Bob was a man of few words but many grins. He was known for his woodworking, farming skills, card-playing, honor, hard work, classic western attire and his love of country-western music. His moves on the dance floor were something to be seen, as Bob and his bride would light up the room dancing at the Elks on a Friday evening or any time the occasion allowed. Many of his grandchildren remember him spinning them around on his boots with music playing in the background. He spent many years at Bennett Lumber as an expert lumber grader, receiving many awards, working hard so his wife could be a caregiver to their family. Up early, he always had a hot breakfast and thermos of coffee for whoever was there. His hands told the story of his life - strong, hardworking and calloused as those of a skilled carpenter. There were few things he couldn't do in the wood shop.

Bob also enjoyed many years tending his own personal pool, where there were many meals, memories, children and grandchildren enjoying their beautifully manicured yard. If he wasn't at work he was hard at work on whatever project was next on the list: rocking chairs, bird feeders, garden benches or rocking horses for each of the grandchildren. He and grandma made quite a team.

Bob was a loyal husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and papa. He will be missed so dearly. He spent his final five months after the passing of his wife in the Lewiston veterans home, where he enjoyed the wonderful company of the staff, family, friends, good cooking and activities. We know not a day went by since he told Barbara, "I'll see you upstairs, Love," that he didn't think of her and miss her so. We find peace and comfort knowing they are together in heaven again.

He is survived by his two sisters, Opal White and Carol Arnzen; his children, Phil and JoRae Teasley and DeAnna and Michael Haines; his grandchildren, Kristine Gustafson, Robert Teasley, Andrea Bowie, Daniel Haines, Tiffiney Foster, Stefanie Hatch, Jody Bremer and Michelle Kirk; and many great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Barbara Teasley; sons Gary Teasley and Michael Ray Teasley; daughter Becky Durham; brothers Frank and Earl Teasley; and parents Earl and Edith Teasley.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Faith Bible Church, 514 Warner Ave, Lewiston.

A special thank you to the veterans home for its wonderful care of Bobbie.
